This wall sculpture is made and sculpted from borosilicate glass. It depicts a decaying flower from which two small figurines emerge. One figure is carrying the other in an intimate pose, positioned as if they are about to kiss. The piece is the first of its kind in a series where clara schweers explores the figurative in glass on a micro scale. The transparency of the material allows the composition to flow into itself, with the figures and flower visually merging. In both the flower and the figures, the sense of a moment just before an action is central to the work. As if something is about to happen. A still but still moving.
Made from borosilicate glass.

Clara Schweers is a visual artist and designer based in Eindhoven (NL). Her practice has situated her within a dynamic feedback loop of digital cultures and behavioral qualities that seem to emerge directly from virtually rooted experiences of rendered and gendered figures on-screen. Through her objects and installations, Clara fuses time-honored techniques with contemporary visions. As a state-changing medium, glass allows her to use traditional craft techniques such as flameworking, fusing or kilncasting in today‘s digitally oriented culture, translated into tangible objects, mirrors jewellery or neon lights probing for interactive and reactive environments and experiences.
