Developed over the past year, Pearson’s technique uses tubular spacers between the rivets, creating a sense of separation and shadow while elevating the humble rivet from functional necessity to decorative feature.
Pearson developed his own highly experimental approach to anodising, building an anodising bath in his workshop and testing different ways of applying dye — with brushes, airbrushes, pipettes and directly by hand. The resulting finish, used across the collection, evokes droplets of water suspended across the aluminium surfaces.
Every piece in 10,000 Rivets is made entirely by Pearson in his workshop in Lewisham, south-east London, with no stage of the manufacturing process outsourced.

Tom Pearson Studio is a London-based practice led by artist, designer and maker Tom Pearson. Working predominantly with metals, the studio prioritises exploration and experimentation to produce process-driven projects and sculptural interventions, drawing on a deep understanding of material, contemporary technologies and novel processes. Tom’s practice is influenced by a background in speculative design shaped at the Royal College of Art. This underpins an approach that looks to push the scope and malleability of metalwork, letting the material lead and the design language follow.
